Unforgettable Memories in Vietnam! 🇻🇳
Mid-October was all about cultural immersion, hands-on learning, and discovery for our 10th-grade students in Southern Vietnam!
Here are the highlights from their journey 📸:
🌱 Local School Exchange: Sharing games and smiles with pupils at Đồng Phú primary school.
🚴 Delta Life: Biking through rural trails, boat rides along the Mekong, and discovering traditional artisan workshops.
🎨 Hands-On Workshops: Vietnamese cooking classes, conical hat painting, and learning Viet Vo Dao martial arts!
📚 History & Culture: Exploring HCMC landmarks, visiting the War Remnants Museum, and attending a lecture on Vietnamese heritage.
A huge shoutout to our students for their enthusiasm, creativity, and open-mindedness throughout the trip, and for filming all the footage for this recap, as well as to our teachers coming along! 🎓✨

Inspiring the Next Generation of Changemakers! 🤝🎓
Our High School Terminale students from the Humanitarian Group (EMC-GH) hosted an inspiring humanitarian conference for our 5ème (Grade 7) classes! 🌟
Guided by Julie and Anouk, our younger students discovered the vital work of Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (@pse_france ), an association proudly supported by IFS dedicated to rescuing children from extreme poverty in Cambodia. 💙
This gathering was a wonderful opportunity to learn about PSE’s mission, discover our upcoming annual Act-IFS project, and see how classroom values of solidarity and empathy translate into real-world impact.
Beyond supporting a great cause, this event allowed our Terminale students to sharpen their public speaking skills while stepping up as inspiring role models for their younger peers, who were incredibly engaged and asked thoughtful questions! 🎙️👏
A huge thank you to our Terminale leaders for guiding the way, to Mr. Pilon, to the parent volunteers of the Humanitarian Group, and to the PSE representatives for their presence and dedication! 💙

Alumni Spotlight: Welcome back to Lisa & Gwenaëlle (Class of 2025)! 🎓✨
We were thrilled to welcome back two of our recent graduates to IFS!
Lisa spent 8 years at IFS in the International Section, which boosted her English proficiency. Having taken Math, Physics, and Earth & Life Sciences, she’s now pursuing a Maths & Physics Prépa in Lyon, aiming for a career in research or primary teaching.
Gwenaëlle joined IFS for 3 years and took the Theater option, a game-changer that helped her overcome her shyness and seamlessly integrate into university life! Now at UTC Compiègne, her artistic passion for drawing is guiding her toward industrial design.
Looking back on their years in Singapore, both agree that the strength of IFS lies in its people. Thanks to the personalized guidance of their teachers, especially Mrs Ongaro, who helped them navigate Parcoursup to find their true path, they felt supported every step of the way. Gwenaëlle highlighted the strong sense of solidarity within the school. From unforgettable school trips to Berlin, Pondicherry, and Krabi to discovering their future callings, their journey is a testament to the power of a supportive community.
🎬 Their final message to our students: « Make sure to enjoy every moment of your time in Singapore, because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience! »

Bridging primary & secondary through mythology! 🏛️✍️
Our CM2 (year 5) students are stepping into the fascinating world of Germanic mythology alongside Mrs. Günther’s Year 9 German class. Through a fun « Mythological Speed Dating » activity, our younger learners get to interview their older peers, collect key clues, and explore ancient tales to spark their own creative writing.
Beyond connecting primary and secondary students, this pedagogical project broadens our learners’ cultural horizons and enriches their curiosity about world stories and myths.
Stay tuned as our young authors transform these mythical inspirations into original tales! 🌟

Connecting Roots, Sharing Culture: Discover the IFS Hispanohablante Club!
Did you know that the Spanish-speaking community at the International French School (IFS) is growing every year? To celebrate this vibrant cultural identity, our Club Hispanohablante successfully held its very first meeting of the school year!
What is the IFS Hispanohablante Club? It is a monthly gathering that offers a dedicated space for students from 6ème to Terminale (Grades 6 to 12) to reconnect with their roots, express themselves freely in Spanish, and build a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
Whether students have Hispanic heritage, a Spanish-speaking parent, or have lived for over 3 years in a Spanish-speaking country, this club is designed to celebrate their unique background!
What to expect this year? It’s all about speaking freely and diving into the rich diversity of Hispanic cultures! During the kickoff session, students brainstormed and picked the exciting themes they’ll explore throughout the year:

Taste Week at IFS: A Colorful Sensory Adventure! 🌈🍎🥦
Our Petite Section (Nursery) students explored the world of flavors during « La Quinzaine du Goût »!
From themed apple days to bright yellow, green, red, and orange days, our little explorers arrived dressed in the daily color with matching fruits and vegetables to share. This playful journey introduces healthy nutrition, expands vocabulary, and sparks sensory awareness through sight, touch, and taste.
The highlight of last week? Parent volunteers leading interactive, hands-on workshops in the classrooms! It’s a wonderful celebration of community and culinary curiosity where our youngest learners experiment, taste, and grow together.
A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers and amazing parents for making learning so rich, colorful, and tasty! 🎨✨

Singing from the Heart & Spreading Joy! 🎶✨
Our IFS Secondary Choir brought music, smiles, and warmth to Singapore General Hospital for MusicFest@SGH 2026! 💛
Performing both inside the hospital and in the serene Healing Garden, our students filled the air with hope and harmony for patients, staff, and visitors. Their eclectic repertoire brought everyone together, from local classics like Dick Lee’s “Bunga Sayang” and “Home”, to the timeless French melody “La Mer”, and even a joyful, high-energy performance of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”! 🎵
We are immensely proud of our students’ dedication, generosity, and musicality, a beautiful reflection of community spirit in action.
A massive thank you to our passionate music teacher, Julie Demange, for her inspiring guidance and leadership, to Fran Ho, our dedicated pianist, and to @singtheatre and @sghseen for making this wonderful event possible.

Democracy in Action: Preparing the Citizens of Tomorrow! 🗳️✨
Learning about democracy starts with experiencing it! Our CM2 students recently took part in their class representative elections, stepping directly into the shoes of active, responsible citizens. 🌐
More than just a vote, this hands-on experience gave our young learners a complete understanding of democratic principles:
🗳️ The Voting Process: From entering the voting booth to signing the register and casting their ballot.
📊 Official Roles: Experiencing the duties of election officers, scrutineers, and vote counters during the ballot count.
🤝 Civic Duty: Experiencing first-hand the civic habits they will carry into adulthood.
At IFS, we believe that education extends beyond textbook lessons. By empowering our students to speak up, listen, and participate, we are shaping empathetic, knowledgeable global citizens ready to make a difference in the world. 🌍
