Coffee, community, and new chapters. ☕️✨

It was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces and meet those of you who are just beginning your journey with our community. Our Café Parent hosted recently at Al Fresco was a beautiful reminder that parenting is truly a “journey best shared.”

Beyond the coffee and conversation, that day was a very special occasion as we looked toward the future. Our parents had the wonderful opportunity to personally greet our incoming Head of School, Mr. Samuel Jourdan, who will be succeeding Mr. Binan at the start of the next school year. 🤝

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this friendly “coffee and chat.” Whether you’ve been with us for years or just joined this term, you make our school family what it is!

What a Performance!🌟

Our theater students took us on an unforgettable journey from the heart of Périgord to the edges of the world in their production of “Les Ombres qui sont nos rêves.”

From May 21st to 23rd, the Amphithéâtre 2900 was transformed into 19th-century South America. Our talented cast brought to life the surreal true story of Antoine de Tounens, the local notary who dared to become the “King of the Mapuche.”

Through Métie Navajo’s 2024 play, we followed Antoine’s life across three stages: the dreaming child, the daring king, and the reflective old man. It was a powerful exploration of ambition, conscience, and the legends that define us.

A huge congratulations to all the students and staff involved for their hard work and passion. You made the stage come alive! 👏✨

A special note of gratitude to Olivier Massis. This production marks his final play here at the IFS after years of dedicated service to our theater program. Thank you, Olivier, for your vision and for inspiring so many students throughout the years.

🏛️✨ Time travel at IFS! ✨🏛️

The secondary school courtyard was transformed into ancient Rome for our special Antiquity Day! From togas and gladiators to Cleopatra herself, the campus was buzzing with classical energy and history.

The day was packed with highlights:
🎨 Temporary tattoos
📸 A Roman-style photo booth
📜Incredible costumes and ancient-inspired fun

A massive thank you to our amazing Latin teachers who pulled out all the stops to make history feel more alive than ever.

Yesterday, the IFS community gathered for a deeply moving conference, The Auschwitz Album: How the Nazis Photographed Their Crimes, led by renowned Holocaust historian Tal Bruttmann. 🏫🕯️

Our students and parents explored the harrowing history behind a unique collection of 197 photographs from Auschwitz-Birkenau. M. Bruttmann powerfully demonstrated how these images—intended by the SS to show the “efficiency” of the camp—were actually used as tools of dehumanisation and were, in fact, part of the crime itself.
It was an essential lesson in the power of images, history, and critical thinking.

We extend our warmest thanks to Tal Bruttmann for sharing his vital expertise. Educating our youth on these visual testimonies is how we ensure that “Never Again” remains a lasting commitment for the next generation

Reading Takes You Everywhere! ✨

Our Elementary students experienced an incredible journey during Book Week at IFS! 🌍📚 From deep-sea adventures to magical realms, our community proved that a book is the ultimate passport.

Here’s a glimpse of the magic:
🎬 Drop Everything and Read: When the jingle played, the whole school paused for 15 minutes of pure literary bliss.
🖋️ Inspiring Guests: A huge thank you to authors @_debbyng (Marvellous Mammals) and @darylkho (Mist Bound) for sharing their secrets with our budding writers!
🎨 Creativity Unleashed: Between the Bookmark Challenge and the stunningly decorated classroom doors, our hallways turned into art galleries.
🕵️ Mystery & Fun: We loved the “Guess Who” teacher challenge and our special Mystery Readers!
♻️ Book Swap: Sharing stories and giving books a second life.

The highlight? The Book Character Parade! 🦸‍♀️🧙‍♂️ Seeing our students, teachers (English, French & Mandarin!), and librarians dressed as their favorite heroes was the perfect finale to a week of community and creativity.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT | The Hyrox Challengers ✨

At IFS, we take pride in the passion and discipline our students demonstrate, both inside and outside the classroom.

Today, we continue our series to celebrate these journey of excellence with Joseph and Louis, who recently showed incredible grit at Hyrox Singapore! 🏆

Competing against seasoned athletes, they became the youngest finishers of the event! With a stellar time of 1:21:00, they ranked 361st out of 1520 in the Men’s Doubles category. 🏃💨

Their performance is a true testament to the power of teamwork and resilience. Congratulations to them for setting such an inspiring example for the IFS community! 👏

Cognitive Science at IFS: A continuous journey toward smarter learning 🧠✨

From the very first weeks of school to our daily classroom routines, the International French School is committed to helping students “learn how to learn.” 💡

It’s been a busy year of brain-focused growth:
✅ The Foundation: Back in September with hosted an expert conference by Frédéric Guilleray, exploring the keys to memory and comprehension with our families.
✅ The Practice: Our 8th and 10th graders kept the momentum going in their “Cognitive Classes,” using tools like the “Reactivation Notebook” to turn new info into lasting knowledge.
✅ The Masterclass: Our 11th graders recently joined our teacher Mr Gilles (Cognitive Science Coordinator) for a deep dive into memory optimization: “Less time, better results.”

At IFS, we believe that understanding the science behind the brain is the best way to build academic confidence. We’re proud to keep this pedagogical innovation alive every single day! 🏛️✨
