Conference: Testimony of a Holocaust Survivor – Live from Drancy

Thursday 12 March

Affiche Evelyn Askolovitch

EVENT OVERVIEW:

In partnership with the Mémorial de la Shoah, IFS is honoured to host Evelyn Askolovitch for an extraordinary conference broadcast live from the Drancy Memorial.

Deported at the age of four to the camps of Amsterdam, Westerbork, and Bergen-Belsen, Evelyn has dedicated her life to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and combating antisemitism and all forms of hatred. Through her writing, speeches, and work with young people, she explores the role of memory, testimony, and the responsibility of each of us in the face of history.

Her testimony recounts the experiences of a child confronted with separation, hunger, and fear, yet strengthened by the will to survive. Evelyn reminds us that bearing witness is not only about recounting horror-it is an act of resistance. Her words stand as a testament to life, courage, and the enduring power of memory.

This conference invites reflection on the meaning of transmission, the weight of words, and the responsibility we carry in the face of history. Open to the entire IFS community.
