International French School in Singapore Celebrates Remarkable Achievements in 2023 French Bac Results

Outstanding Successes of the Class of 2023 Highlight School’s Commitment to Excellence and Academic Rigor

Singapore, June 28, 2023 – The International French School in Singapore (IFS) is proud to announce the exceptional achievements of its Class of 2023 in the prestigious French Baccalauréat (Bac) examinations. The graduating students have demonstrated remarkable dedication, involvement and tenacity, resulting in a superb achievement that showcases their exceptional abilities.

With 132 Lycée graduating students, IFS is delighted to report a successful 99.2% pass rate for the Bac 2023, a testament to the school’s commitment to providing a nurturing and rigorous academic environment.

The results have surpassed our expectations, with an impressive 6% of the graduating students obtaining the highest level of distinction, “Très Bien avec les Félicitations du Jury” (High Distinction with Bac Jury special commendation). This accolade is reserved for students with an average grade between 18/20 and above, and for those who demonstrate exceptional mastery of the curriculum and excel in their examinations. It reflects the students’ unwavering dedication, determination, and commitment to academic excellence.

Furthermore,  35% of the students achieved the coveted “Très Bien” (High Distinction) classification, which signifies exceptional performance across all subjects, with an average grade between 16/20 and 17.9/20. Such a remarkable achievement showcases the students’ deep understanding of the curriculum and ability to apply their knowledge effectively.

The International French School in Singapore is extremely proud of the 95% of graduating students who achieved with “Mentions” (Distinctions).

Mr David Binan, Principal of IFS, expressed how proud he is of the Class of 2023’s remarkable achievements. He said, “We are incredibly proud of our students’ exceptional results in the French Bac examinations. These outstanding outcomes reflect their hard work, dedication, and the exceptional teaching and support they have received from our dedicated faculty. We are confident that these students have the skills and knowledge to thrive in their future endeavours, and we wish them continued success.”

The French Baccalauréat (popularly referred to as the ‘Bac’) is the diploma that marks the completion of the French Lycée (High School) programme and follows the curriculum guidelines established by the French Ministry of Education. The French Bac is recognised worldwide and provides IFS students with a pathway to the top universities of their choice.

The education provided at IFS equips students with a solid foundation of knowledge, critical thinking skills, and a global perspective, preparing them for success in universities across the globe. With a diploma from IFS, graduates can access prestigious institutions in France and abroad. Approximately 50% of IFS graduates choose to attend prestigious universities in France, such as Dauphine, Panthéon Assas, ESSEC, Ecole Polytechnique, and Sciences Po Paris. Around 30% of students pursue their further studies in the UK and Europe at institutions such as UCL, King’s College London, Imperial College London, and in Europe, Bocconi University Italy, IE University Spain, and Leiden University College Netherlands. The remaining 20% go as far as McGill University in Canada, Hong Kong University, or Monash and Melbourne University in Australia.
