IFS x TotalEnergies – Exploring Energy Careers! 💡⚡️

On Monday 1st December, IFS hosted a TotalEnergies Career Discovery Conference in our Amphitheater 3000, a unique opportunity for our students from 3ème to Terminale, and their parents, to dive into the world of energy careers.

🔎 What they discovered:
The diversity of roles across the energy industry
Pathways in engineering, renewables, operations & business
Insights into a sector committed to a low-carbon future
Expert advice on studies, essential skills & career development
A Q&A session and networking with TotalEnergies professionals

This conference gave our students an inspiring look into the fast-evolving world of energy, sustainability and innovation, helping them better understand the opportunities that lie ahead.

Learning Maths the Fun Way! 📐💙

This year, we introduced Maths Support Workshops designed for students who need a little extra help, and the feedback has already been amazing!

In these small-group sessions, our “Maths Challenge” groups, students get to experience maths differently:
🎲 Learning games (puzzles and assemblies) on basic geometry
🧩 Pixel art to understand spreadsheet cell names
🧠 Fun mental maths: adding or subtracting 8, 9, 18, 19… multiplying by 11
✍️ Homework support, vocabulary and operations
📘 Problem-solving and understanding the meaning behind operations
➕ Mental maths knots & written calculations

With interactive and hands-on activities, students gain confidence, make real progress… and most importantly, start enjoying maths again, making these workshops a powerful tool for inclusion and personalised learning. 🤝

🌿🦀 Learning Through Nature at Sungei Buloh! 🌱🌊

Our students have been diving deep into the fascinating world of ecosystems!

In class, they explored animal classification, food webs, and the concept of an ecosystem, with a special focus on the unique mangrove habitat, its wildlife, its plant life, and the incredible adaptations that allow living things to thrive there. 🌾🦎

To bring their learning to life, each class spent a full day at the Sungei Buloh Mangrove Reserve. There, students observed the rich biodiversity of Singapore up close: mudskippers, birds, crabs, reptiles, mangrove trees… all in their natural environment. 🐢🦅🌳

Thanks to this hands-on experience, all students now have a precise, real-world understanding of Singapore’s ecosystem and the importance of protecting it.

25 November – IFS Stands Against Violence 🎬🧡

On 25 November, the IFS community came together to raise awareness about violence against women and gender-based violence. The day was filled with meaningful actions and powerful messages that reached every corner of the school.

Highlights of the day included:
🟧Awareness stands & orange bracelet distribution
🟧 Classroom actions led by volunteers (workshops, presentations, and facts about gender-based violence)

🎥 Videos and messages were shared throughout the school to spark reflection and engagement.
The commitment and energy of our students and teachers reminded us all that change starts with awareness and action. 💪🤝

Let’s continue to stand together, support one another, and work towards a safer, more equal community.

♻️ Students Project : CLOTHING COLLECTION!

✨Turn old clothes into new creations!✨.
As part of a Terminale student project, they are collecting unused clothing from Dec 1–10 to upcycle with CE1 students and create eco-friendly fashion pieces. 🌿👗

All donated clothes will be transformed into fun, imaginative designs made with recyclable materials — ending with their own little Eco Fashion Show!

Drop your donations at the high school entrance and help them make sustainability stylish. ♻️💚.

A Creative Encounter with French Illustrator Roland Garrigue at IFS! 🎨👾

Our CE1 students had the amazing opportunity to meet Roland Garrigue, the celebrated French children’s book author and illustrator known for his wild imagination, mischievous humor, and wonderfully monstrous characters!

With more than a hundred published books — including the famous Comment ratatiner… series — Roland Garrigue brings a unique artistic style that children instantly connect with: playful, irreverent, and delightfully strange. Roland led two creative workshops among which:

👾 A Monster Splatter Workshop
Roland drew live on the projector, transforming ink splatters into hilarious monsters with the help of students who suggested shapes, features, and expressions. Then, each child received their own “monster splatter” to turn into a creature using markers and oil pastels. A perfect blend of imagination and improvisation!

A huge thank you for inspiring our young artists and letting their imaginations run wild!
