Voyageuse De NuitHolder of a Master’s degree in Philosophy and a PhD in History, Laure Adler began her career at France Culture in 1974 as a journalist and then participated in several television programmes. In 1990, she was culture policy officer at the Elysée Palace, before becoming, in 1992, Director of documentaries and cultural programmes on France 2 and advisor to the presidency of France Télévisions.

She has appeared in several historical and cultural magazines on both television and radio. From 1999 to 2005, Laure directed France Culture. 

Her career has also led her to the publishing world where, after having worked with the publishing houses Payot, Denoël and Plon, she joined Grasset in 1997 as head of essays and documents.

As a writer, she is the author of several historical works, including Les premières journalistes (Payot), Les femmes politiques (Seuil), Sur les pas d’Hannah Arendt (Gallimard), and a biography of Marguerite Duras (Gallimard) for which she received the Prix Femina de l’essai.
