French families paying the school fees of their children on their own can apply for a scholarship with the French Consulate. The scholarships are granted based on household income and under condition of registration with the Consulate.

Scholarships – new covid-19 regulations

In order to support French families financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, adjustments and measures complementary to the existing provisions on school aid have been adopted.

With regard to applications for scholarships for the academic year 2020-2021, the situation of families will be examined according to two criteria: income and assets.

  1. Income
In addition to the change in income from the previous year (N-1), evidence of the loss of income at the beginning of 2020 may be taken into account. On this basis, the Consular Scholarship Board (CCB) will be able to propose a higher amount than that envisaged, or even to open a scholarship for a family which is clearly experiencing a significant change in their financial situation, with the aim, in the latter case, of enabling the families concerned to ensure the return of their child(ren) to school in any event.
  2. Assets
The CCB will have the possibility, exceptionally and in view of the circumstances, to change the threshold for movable and immovable property up to a limit of €100,000 for movable property and €250,000 for immovable property (so no change for Singapore, which already had the highest thresholds).

Application deadline is Friday 9 Octobre 2020 at 6:00 pm. Further information about the application process can be found on the website of the Embassy of France. The application form and the list of supporting documents are available for download.
