SUMMARY:The Auschwitz Album: How the Nazis Photographed Their Crimes
DESCRIPTION:EVENT OVERVIEW: \nThe International French School (IFS) presents a conference titled The Auschwitz Album: How the Nazis Photographed Their Crimes\, led by renowned Holocaust historian Tal Bruttmann. \nThis conference explores a unique collection of photographs taken at the very heart of Nazi crimes. Through the analysis of The Auschwitz Album\, the lecture examines how images\, apparently devoid of explicit violence\, can themselves constitute an act of extreme violence. \nComposed of 197 photographs discovered by Lili Jacob\, the album documents the arrival of Jews at Auschwitz-Birkenau. These images are known worldwide and have been widely used in history textbooks and during the Auschwitz trials. Intended by SS authorities to demonstrate the “efficiency” of the camp\, they functioned as tools of dehumanisation and humiliation. \nBy analysing these photographs\, Tal Bruttmann\, together with Stefan Hördler and Christoph Kreutzmüller\, reveals what often escapes first impressions:\n“This album was not\, and is not\, merely a staged representation; it is also part of the crime.” \nThis essential conference invites reflection on the power of images in history and the gaze imposed on those arriving on the Judenrampe at the Birkenau killing centre. \n	\n \n\n	\n	\nLECTURE DETAILS: \n\nDATE: Tuesday\, 19 May 2026\nTIME: 7:00 PM\nLOCATION: Amphitheatre 2900\nRECOMMENDED AGE: PG14 (from 4éme)\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nSPEAKER: \nTal Bruttmann\, historian of the Holocaust and antisemitism\, and a specialist of the “Final Solution” in Europe. His research focuses on Nazi policies of persecution\, genocide\, and the use of visual sources in understanding the Shoah. \nMODERATORS: Sofia Haynes and Erwanna Caudal\, Year 12 (Terminale) students\, as part of the PEAC (Artistic and Cultural Education Programme) \nOPEN TO EVERYONE! \n*The conference will be in French \n\n REGISTER TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT

SUMMARY:Parent Workshop: Finding Digital Harmony – From Tug-of-War to Teamwork within Families
DESCRIPTION:In today’s world\, technology is central to how our teenagers socialize\, learn\, and explore their identities. However\, for many families\, phones and social media can also become a source of daily conflict. What begins as a simple request to “put the phone away” can quickly escalate into a power struggle\, leaving both parents and teens feeling misunderstood. \nThe Counselling Centre (2C) team is pleased to invite you to an upcoming parent workshop titled: “Finding Digital Harmony: From Tug-of-War to Teamwork within Families.” \nThis session is designed to help parents move beyond constant monitoring and move toward a partnership with their teens. We will explore how to help teenagers develop the judgment and responsibility to use technology wisely while maintaining open communication and trust at home. \nKey topics will include: \n\nUnderstanding the Digital Reality: Why being online represents “social belonging” for teens and why being offline can feel like exclusion.\nNavigating Digital Risks: Managing cyberbullying\, the “perfection pressure” of social media\, and the impact of a digital footprint.\nFrom Control to Guidance: Shifting the conversation from punishment to safety and learning how to lead with curiosity rather than judgment.\n\nTo make this workshop accessible to all families\, sessions will be offered in English and French\, with both in-person and online options. \nSessions Schedule: \n\nTuesday\, 12 May\, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm (In person\, French) at 3C Exhibition Area\nWednesday\, 13 May\, 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (Online\, English & French – parallel sessions) at Counselling Centre.\nThursday\, 14 May\, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm (In person\, English) at Counselling Centre.\n\nOPEN TO EVERYONE! \nWe look forward to welcoming you as we work together to help our students become safe\, responsible\, and resilient digital citizens. \n\n Register Now

SUMMARY:Conference: The Battle of Images - Is the News Bulletin Still Essential?
DESCRIPTION:EVENT OVERVIEW \nWhen it was first created in the 1950s\, the television news bulletin was one of the only accessible sources of information – a daily ritual for families across France. Today\, with the rise of social media and 24-hour news cycles\, the role of the traditional “JT” is being called into question. \nTo discuss this evolution\, IFS is delighted to welcome Anne-Claire Poignard\, a Hong Kong-based journalist for France Télévisions and former news presenter for Télématin on France 2. \nAn experienced field reporter\, Anne-Claire has produced reports worldwide and won the 2019 Prix Varenne for her moving report\, “Smiles of Hope\,” filmed in Bamako\, Mali. \nEVENT DETAILS \n\nDate & Time: Tuesday\, 21 April at 7:00 PM\nLocation: New Maternelle Amphitheatre (Campus 2900)\nModerators: Cassandre DUMAZ and Rey BEAUFILS (Grade 12 / Terminale students)\n\nOpen to everyone! \n\n REGISTER TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT
